chocolate creations

Last year, I have unleashed my passion for chocolates. I discovered how to mold chocolates and posted a few pictures of my creations. People loved it so some of them started to order. I was not intentionally making a bussiness out of it but my friends started to request if I can make it. Now, as early as the first month of BER I'll be starting to make more creations. =)

Riyadh Shawarma

After years and years of missing shawarma, Riyadh Shawarma is finally in Manila. Anna, a good friend of mine, made shawarma and she got the taste of the one in Riyadh! I so love that girl! Eventhough I am tired from our Batangas Valentines trip, I exerted effort to go to the U.P. fair to have a bite of her shawarma. And my effort was gifted with an UHM-UHM scrumptious shawarwa. All my riyadh memories came back. I guess Anna's effort really paid off... so is mine! hehehe. I wish she will put up a real store where I can share the shawarma with my friends. Her lil sister Jenny, made desserts and named it CINNFUL DELIGHTS. I was not able to taste it but I am sure that it's oh-so-good!

sharing a diet secret...

I was so devastated when I saw my body and could not fit into my clothes after giving birth. I was even more depressed when I want to go on a diet but I can't cause I'm exclusively breastfeeding my lil angel.

Not until I saw my cousin who told me they switched their rice. He lost his beer belly in just 2 months.I am still hesitant cause I am a rice lover. I could not trade my staple food, rice to any pasta or bread.

One day, we visited our cousin and he served us brown rice. Our family (including Ate faye) agreed to try eating brown rice at home. We liked the nutty flavor, so we switch to brown rice after tasting and seeing the result from my cousin who ate it. I have been eating it for 2 weeks and I'm happy to say that I lost 4 pounds.

Brown rice (or "hulled rice") is unmilled or partly milled rice, a kind of whole grain. It has a mild nutty flavor, is chewier than white rice and becomes rancid more quickly, but is far more nutritious.

Are you gonna try it?

Not so well

I woke up earlier than usual and I felt my tummy grumbling. I thought I was just hungry so I ate. A few minutes later there it goes again, grumbling. So I decided to drink milk before feeding my lil angel. It stopped and I took a nap but when I woke up again the grumbling is still there. Nyahahaha. I have been friends with our comfort room. In fact, we are now the best of friends. Hahaha. I just wish a hot cup of tea with honey and a good rest will stop mr gumbling tummy.

Our dinner last Friday

And so I was inspired by the rare ingredients I had purchased the last time we went to the grocery. I decided to cook. I made pork steak with dill and white sauce, chopsuey, and plain rice. I even platted it and our ate Faye enjoyed eating it with her hands. Kamayin daw ang platting ko! Hehehe.

Grocery...

I'm having so much fun going to groceries these days. Before, you have to go to santisse delicatessen just to buy fresh herbs but now I can buy it from the grocery. Life in a culinary school must have been easier if they sell these goods before. I use to go to farmers, shopwise, santisse and korean stores just to buy the things I need. Imagine that! Hoping to one shop to another just to buy a single goodie! They even have rice paper for fresh viatnamese spring roll. Hay... I feel like I was in haven when I walk down the aisle. It's like you want to cook everything that's in there. My husband was shocked when he saw the cart full of unknown food to him. He was asking whats this for? what's that for? Hahaha. Just wait when I get home. hehehe. I'll feed you a horse! I have some pictures of the herbs and veggies I bought.

And did I mention that they have fresh basil? Talk about making tomato and basil sauce without using the dried one in a bottle. ;) wink!

Arabian merienda

Jerry had this free photo session in sct. borromeo that's why we went there today and had our little Ailey's 3rd month picture taken.

After that, I asked Jerry if we can have merienda in my favorite arabian / persian restaurant that's just within the area. He said yes because he knows I love ox brain so much. I ordered 3 ox brain, 1 shish kebab, a teapot, 2 pita bread, and a cup of rice. I know it's to much for a merienda but I'm breastfeeding so thats a good excuse.

I enjoyed everybite. Too bad I didn't have any pictures cause I was too hungry and excited at the same time.

Breastmilk is best for babies up to 2 years...

I am exclusively breastfeeding my daughter for 6 weeks. Then I've tried mixed feeding because I want her to get used to powdered milk once in a while. She likes the powdered milk when I am gone but when I am inside the house she wants to breastfed.

Sometimes, I would ask Ate Faye to bottle feed her. When I am around she wouldn't drink it. What I will do is take a bath or go out of the room (sometimes sa labas pa nga ng house eh) so she would drink my milk in the bottle.

One day, I tried to feed her my milk in the bottle but she would not drink it. As for me I was so disappointed cause I have to pump it, place it in a feeding bottle, chill it, after she consumed it... I have to clean the bottle, sterilize it, dry it and assemble it again. Yes! It is a very long process. That's why I don't want to throw it. I said to myself, this milk needs to be consumed!

I asked ate faye to feed her then I went to our patio so she wouldn't see nor smell me. Still no sucess. I asked my husband to feed her. Still no sucess. What in the world must I do, so that my precious milk will not go to waste.

I was so tired. I am trying not to breastfeed her so she would drink from the bottle. Still, no sucess. After 30 minutes, I give in. She was crying so hard and we were both exhausted. My milk in the bottle was not consumed. I don't want it to go to waste...

My son woke up. Asking for his chocolate drink. IDEA! As my son always say when he wants to do domething silly. As for me, yeah, the thing I am about to confess maybe silly. I grabbed my daughters feeding bottle. Poured all the contents into my sons cup, added milo and WAHLAH! Chocolate drink!

Who said Breastmilk is best for babies up to 2 years... My son turned 3 this Apirl 12. Ahahaha!

Buffalo wings

I always fry chicken. And today I got tried of the usual salt and pepper chicken.

That's why I cooked Buffalo wings. I'll share the secret with you:

Ingredients:

4 to 5 pounds chicken wings
Freshly ground black pepper
Salt (if desired)
4 cups vegetable oil
4 Tablespoons butter or margarine (1/2 stick)
5 Tablespoons Louisiana-brand hot sauce or Tabasco sauce
1 Tablespoon white wine vinegar

Preparation:Chop off the tip of each chicken wings, and discard it. Chop the wing in half (cutting at the joint) to make 2 pieces. Grind on fresh black pepper and sprinkle with salt if desired. Heat the oil over high heat in a deep skillet, Dutch oven, or deep-fat fryer until it starts to pop and sizzle (around 400 degrees F). Add half the chicken wings and cook until they're golden and crisp, stirring or shaking occasionally. When done, remove them to drain on paper towels and cook the remaining wings. Melt the butter or margarine over medium heat in a heavy saucepan, add the hot sauce and the 1 tablespoon of wine vinegar. Stir well and remove from the flame immediately. Place the chicken on a warm serving platter, pour the sauce on top, and serve.

Yield: 8 to 10 servings

Unfortunately we don't have bluecheese (for the dressing) and celery.
